KPCSD Weather-Related Message
Friday, January 23, 2026
Good afternoon Kings Park Community,
I hope this message finds you well.
As you are very likely aware, it is anticipated that a significant winter storm will impact the area this Sunday into Monday. We have been closely monitoring the weather forecasts and models, and this will continue throughout the weekend. Given the potential for significant snowfall, there is a high probability that our schools will be closed on Monday. However, that said, forecasts can be imprecise this far out from the beginning of the storm. I anticipate making a final decision by Sunday afternoon and will share that decision with you then.
As a reminder, we have one snow day built into the 2025-026 calendar. If we need to take a snow day on Monday, this will be a “traditional” snow day, and schools will be closed. Friday, May 22nd would then become a regular day of school. Should we need two or more snow days, we would look to provide remote learning on those days. While we recognize that eLearning is not ideal, this allows us to maintain the April Spring Recess.
Thank you for your understanding and may you and yours stay safe and warm!
Timothy T. Eagen, Ed.D.

Kings Park Central School District
